Geographical accessibility to primary health care in Finland – Grid-based multimodal assessment

Geographic accessibility of health services is one the key dimensions affecting care access, utilisation and may impact population health. We analysed countrywide space-time to primary by private car multimodal walk-ride-walk travel chains public transport in Finland. The analysis utilises register-based grid cell data at 250m × 250 m resolution, road network with scheduled geocoded locations four types service. Our results show that Finnish reaches well, also transport, which most beneficial urban fringes, where are not immediately available. However, be limited for some segments population, such as carless households located remote areas, teenagers who access independently. Distinct regional differences exist accessibility, particularly rural areas. continuous pressure reduce number service facilities further deter these population.
